About the Role
A high-performing hospital trust rated “Good” by the CQC, is looking for dynamic consultants to join the Acute Medicine and Medicine Specialties Teams. The Trust is experiencing an exciting period of growth and transformation, with bold aspirations for delivering exceptional, patient-centred care. As part of our commitment to a true 7-day service, they are increasing the consultant physician workforce by 50% over the next two years, alongside expanding our junior medical and clinical support staff.
Main Duties
The position includes a basic contract of 10 Programmed Activities (PAs), covering both outpatient elective work and inpatient diabetes and endocrine care. Each consultant will share a 1:5 commitment and will have opportunities to develop specialist interests, such as diabetic foot care, bone metabolism, type 1 diabetes management, lipid services, or erectile dysfunction.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and develop diabetes, endocrinology, and metabolic services alongside professional colleagues.
- Participate in inpatient and outpatient care at both acute sites and affiliated community hospitals.
- Develop specialist skills tailored to the department's needs.
- Collaborate with community services, including supporting Diabetes Specialist Nurses and GPs with special interests.
- Provide ongoing clinical supervision for junior medical staff and educational guidance.
- Engage in postgraduate and undergraduate medical education.
- Take part in research, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Join the 1:12 on-call rota, covering both weekdays and weekends.
Requirements
- Full GMC registration
- Proficient in managing diabetes and endocrine disorders.
- Experience in supervising and teaching trainees and engaging in continuous professional development.
- Demonstrated clinical expertise and patient safety awareness.
- Research experience and service development initiatives.
- Training in a subspecialty that complements the existing team.

Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine to join a multi-disciplinary team. This position is open to both newly trained and experienced consultants who are passionate about developing and delivering innovative care models for frail elderly patients.
The successful candidate will work closely with the established team to enhance the acute frailty pathway and provide high-quality care within a 32-bed elderly care ward. Additionally, you will contribute to rapid access frailty clinics, delivering Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGA) and collaborating with community services to reduce unplanned admissions.
This role includes participation in the out-of-hours and on-call rota (1:12).
Main Duties and Responsibilities
As part of a collaborative team, you will:
Lead and contribute to the development of acute frailty pathways and associated services.

Provide early access CGA in rapid access and ‘hot’ clinics to support primary care and reduce emergency admissions.
