They are currently seeking enthusiastic and skilled individuals to advance and develop the Respiratory Services. You’ll play a key role in building the reputation as the leading local provider of respiratory care, including the dedicated Respiratory Support Units, lung cancer services, and procedures like bronchoscopy and EBUS, as well as general respiratory clinics. 

Main Duties of the Role
Successful candidates will join a team of 11 respiratory consultants and one SAS doctor across two acute sites. Supported by a comprehensive team of specialist respiratory nurses and diagnostic services at the main hospitals and a community hospital, post holders will manage outpatient clinics at their primary base and conduct additional clinics in our community hospitals. These include general respiratory and cancer clinics, with the option to develop a subspecialty interest.

The position involves working within a weekly specialty rota for ward and Respiratory Support Unit (RSU) coverage (in-hours only), along with participation in an unselected medical on-call rota at the Acute Medical Unit in collaboration with physician and acute care teams. Procedures such as EBUS, bronchoscopy, and pleural work are conducted on our primary acute sites, with full support from our medical day units.

Requirements include:
  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practice 
  • Experience of lung cancer investigation and management
  • Experience of medical teaching
  • EBUS competence is desirable
  • MRCP (UK) or equivalent

Job Summary We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine to join a multi-disciplinary team. This position is open to both newly trained and experienced consultants who are passionate about developing and delivering innovative care models for frail elderly patients. The successful candidate will work closely with the established team to enhance the acute frailty pathway and provide high-quality care within a 32-bed elderly care ward. Additionally, you will contribute to rapid access frailty clinics, delivering Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGA) and collaborating with community services to reduce unplanned admissions. This role includes participation in the out-of-hours and on-call rota (1:12). Main Duties and Responsibilities As part of a collaborative team, you will: Lead and contribute to the development of acute frailty pathways and associated services. Deliver care for patients on the Care of the Elderly ward, ensuring adherence to high clinical standards. Provide early access CGA in rapid access and ‘hot’ clinics to support primary care and reduce emergency admissions. Offer advice and guidance to community GPs.
