Consultant in Stroke Medicine
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic, and committed Consultant in Stroke Medicine to join a forward-thinking and supportive team at a well-established healthcare trust in the South East of England. This is an exciting opportunity to develop and deliver high-quality Stroke Services for the local population while working within a collaborative and ambitious environment.
About the Role
You will play a key role in delivering comprehensive stroke care across the full patient pathway. The service is based at a central, state-of-the-art Acute Stroke Centre and supported by an integrated network of rehabilitation and community services. AI/telemedicine is available to enhance thrombolysis and on-call processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Emergency Care
Attend thrombolysis and thrombectomy calls with the on-call stroke team.
Coordinate thrombectomy referrals and patient transfers.
Provide inpatient ward reviews, including ITU patients.
Acute Stroke Centre (ASC)
Manage hyper-acute stroke admissions and associated complications.
Deliver outstanding care to acute stroke and rehabilitation patients.
Lead care planning and best-interest meetings, working closely with the MDT, patients, and their families.
Outpatient Services
Conduct TIA and Stroke Clinics, including follow-up reviews and associated administration.
On-Call Rota
1:4 weekends: managing new admissions and TIA clinics.
1:6 thrombolysis on-call, supported by AI/telemedicine systems.

What we're looking for?
We’re seeking an accredited physician with a specialist interest in Stroke Medicine. Applicants must hold full GMC registration. Strong communication and leadership skills, alongside a passion for delivering outstanding patient care, are essential. MRCP is also an essential requirement.
